Euphemia Hay, Longboat Key, Sarasota Florida

Euphemia Hay, 5540 Gulf of Mexico Dr., Longboat Boat Key Florida, off the coast from Sarasota 941-383-3633

This is an excellent restaurant with a fine ambience. Whenever I am in the area I go there. Not only do they have a mxture of cuisines including Mediterranean, French and Caribbean, there are always original tastes in new combinations. It is owned by Raymond (Ray) Arpke and D'Arcey Arpke. Ray the chef has won competitions in Europe and D'Arcey is a fine hostess. Upstairs they serve quite decadent home made desserts (I personally like there lemon merangue and key lime pies) and there is an excellent bar usually overseen by Eric Bell, a transplanted Canadian. The live music ranges from chanteuse, guitar solos, to small groups. It is always mellow. Expect to pay $100 for two including wine and dessert.

excellent. Total price with drinks $70.00 for all six. Most of the clientele are Chinese but the specials are in both Chinese and English.

Introduction

Readers and contributors:
Anthropologists find themselves all over the world. In the term anthropologists I include social and cultural anthropologists, applied anthropologists, biological anthropologists, linguistic anthropologists, and archaeologists. They spend days, weeks, months doing fieldwork and as a result eat in restaurants in the major and minor cities of various countries and in the rural areas. They collect a great deal of gastronomic knowledge. The purpose of this blog is recommend restaurants for your anthropological colleagues and the general public. In order, to keep some semblance of order would you please label your recommendations by name of restaurant, city (or area), province or state, and country.
